Knox County is currently in SHAPE  (and is working to STAY in SHAPE!)   The award was presented to the Administrator and Commissioners at the November, 2018 meeting of the Knox County Commission. We were up for renewal in 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic that got pushed off until 2021

The Safety and Health Award for Public Employers (or SHAPE) is a Maine Department of Labor/Safetyworks program which recognizes employers and their employees for programs above and beyond the minimum. This award distinguishes Knox County as a model for workplace health and safety programs.

Sam Knight from MeBLS Safetyworks paid us a visit on August 16, 2021 to conduct our revalidation for the SHAPE program.  Knox County passed the revalidation process and received the SHAPE award for another three years. Please direct questions regarding the training records aspect of the visit to Candice Richards.  General program questions can be directed to the County Administrator or to Ray Sisk at EMA.

Next Safety Committee meeting- 1:00pm, Thursday November 18, 2021.  Given the ongoing response and protective actions for COVID 19, you can expect this meeting to be held via video conference.
